So often we hear our souls go to another realm when we are off to sleep but is it really true? Ever wonder what happens to your soul when you go to sleep according to Islam? Does it die while we sleep? Islam has various answers to our questions as scholars have diverse opinions. Here are some of the most popular narratives about what happens to our soul when we are off to sleep.
What Happens To Your Soul When You Go to Sleep According to Islam?
He Takes Your Soul Every Night
Allah says in Quran (interpretation of the meaning):
“It is He, Who takes your souls by night (when you are asleep), and has knowledge of all that you have done by day” [Al-An‘aam 6:60].
This indicates that every night Allah takes our souls with all others and knows what we have done throughout the day. Sounds a little scary, right? There’s a reason why we should be spending our each day meaningfully and the way we should spend in the light of Islam.
And He Does So, Whenever HE Wills
Here’s another proof of it.
Abu Qataadah, a companion of the Prophet, narrated (may Allah be pleased with him) that when they slept and missed the prayer, the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Verily Allah took your souls when He willed, and He returned them when He willed.” [Al-Bukhaari, 7474.]
Praise to God who Gives Us Life After Death (AKA Sleep)
Sayedina Hudhayfah narrated (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) woke up, he would say: “Al-hamdu Lillahi alladhi ahyaana ba‘da ma amaatanaa wa ilayhi an-nushoor (Praise be to Allah Who has given us life after He caused us to die, and to Him will be the resurrection).”
He Keeps Some of The Souls
“It is Allāh Who takes away the souls (Wafat) at the time of their death, and those that die not during their sleep. He keeps those (souls) for which He has ordained death and sends the rest for a term appointed. Verily, in this are signs for people who think deeply” [verse 39:42].
Sleep is Brother of Death
The Prophet (PBUH) was asked, “Do people of Heaven sleep?” He answered: “Sleep is the brother of death. People of Heaven do not sleep” [Collected from Sheikh Albany’s Website]
Sleep: A Minor Death
Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen said, “When a person goes to sleep, Allah takes away his soul in a form of minor death during which the soul goes to wherever Allah wills.”
Your Soul Can Meet Other Souls During Sleep
While sleeping, also called ‘minor death’, your soul meets other souls of both living and dead people. Sayedina Khuzaymah reported that he had a dream, he was prostrating upon the Prophet’s forehead. Upon narrating this to the Prophet, he leaned back and said: “Indeed, a soul surely meets another soul (during sleep). Confirm your dream: sit and prostrate and do as you did in the dream.” [Recorded by Ahmad]
While some of the scholars have the above-mentioned narrative, others do not believe so. Whatever narrative you believe in, the study of souls, however, is an interesting yet mysterious thing to read about.

5 Things You Hear Every Day If You Are A Talkative Girl
We all talk about how difficult it is to hear things about yourself if you are an introvert person. Like people constantly judge you and aim their taunts at you for not being as social as them. However, what no one talks about is how painful it could be to be an overly social person. So today we would share with you 5 things you hear every day if you are a talkative girl.
1. ‘Yar Iskay Moonh Me Koi Filter Nahi’?
This is one of the biggest negative comments that a talkative girl has to hear. Since she loves talking, people start assuming that it’s their right to judge her. A lot of them even dare say things like ‘don’t you have a filter in your mouth’ right to your face if you are one.
2. ‘Kya Kha Kar Aee Thee’?
It’s actually funny how you can be judged that you have these superpowers after eating something. It’s like one of the old superstitions we had, that’s the reason it is said to the person who talks a lot ‘kawway khaay hain kya’?
3. ‘Iska Susral Main Kaisay Guzara Hoga’?
‘How would your MiL bear you’? ‘You would have to change yourself’ are the two things talkative girls hear all the time. Its high time people realize that how a girl lives with her susral is none of their business.
If you are a person who loves to poke your nose in another girls’ personal space, know that your daughter could go through the same situation soon!
4. ‘You Are Using your Tongue more and mind, less?’
It’s a common assumption that people who talk a lot, use their brains less. I want the readers to know that it’s not always like that. You can keep both, your tongue and brain, fresh. You can observe things and yet talk about your observations so others could learn a thing or two.
5. ‘Don’t you ever shut up?’
Imagine you are talking to your friend who does not like to talk much unlike you and all of sudden you hear ‘don’t you ever shut up’ from her. How agonizing would it be, right?
This is why the wise once preached us to be careful with how you play with your words. You can end up hurting the person you love the most.
Since we all like to be preached in the best manner, so preach the way you want to be preached. It’s understandable sometimes we all simply are not in the mood of listening to the gossips and stories of friends but it still does not give us license of judging them.
